The Dale City “LIGHTNING” Track Club (DCTC) started in 2010, as a track and field running club for boys and girls, ages 6 to 17 residing in the Prince William County, Northern Virginia area (non-Prince William County residents are more than welcome to join). DCTC participates in competitive track and field events sanctioned by USA Track and Field (USATF) and the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). DCTC athletes have competed in and won select championships at the local, State, Regional and National levels.
Our program is designed to introduce kids of all abilities to sprinting, distance running and field events. DCTC offers youth a positive environment that is fun, competitive, social, and informative about the sport of track and field. DCTC coaches and staff seek to improve our athletes’ leadership skills, enhance their athletic ability, combat juvenile delinquency, encourage greater participation in school sport programs and, in general, develop character in our youth that will foster necessary life skills.
DCTC promotes good sportsmanship. Our goal is to build a team environment that will support our youth emotionally and socially through their involvement in track and field. They will improve their physical conditioning and build a positive self-image. All DCTC athletes have the ability to achieve their individual athletic potential during practice sessions and scheduled competitive events. They will progress over the season by developing an understanding of the concept of "pace" and the mental side of running, which in turn will greatly improve their individual times and increase the distances which they can run. It is exciting to watch them increase their endurance, develop confidence in their abilities, surpass their own expectations, and enjoy the spirit of competition.
“The success of our program is due to the dedication of our athletes, the commitment of our coaches and the strong participation of our parent volunteers.”
